TIME FOR THE TRUTH ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY and THAT CITY CALLED SODOM

Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Let's get real. It's time for some honesty, wouldn't you say? Maybe you've heard some of the things set forth these days, as proof that the Bible really does not teach that homosexuality is a sin, and further, that homosexuality was not the reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.
Surprise! Surprise! People have been believing an error that has been passed on for generations to unsuspecting people who did not know the Bible does not teach that homosexuality is a sin! Or does it? After all, just because God made man and woman to be united and said clearly – 

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh., - 

that doesn't mean that any other type of union is wrong. Right?
Hmmm … let us use those little gray cell as (Hercule Poirot would say), in our brains and reason here for a minute. So, if I tell my child that he must be in bed by 10 PM, he will not necessarily conclude that to do anything else would be wrong. Right? If I find him still up at midnight and he says to me. “You did not tell me not to be up until midnight,” he will be justified, and it will be wrong for me to correct him? Right? Umm … NO! I did not have to say, 'Do not stay up past 10 PM,' if I specifically said to be in bed at that time. If he has done anything other than be in bed at 10 PM he knows that he has disobeyed.
Shall we pause for a duh moment here? Simple logic still has its place. But let's say it another way. Suppose I make a glaze to go on the homemade donuts that I have just finished frying. My son walks into the kitchen and I tell him, 'I made this glaze to go on the fresh donuts. Now if he picks up the bowl of glaze and says 'I would rather use it as candy and eat it with my friends,' then heads out of the door with it, he has done nothing wrong – right? Pause, for another duh moment........ Just because he wants to use the glaze in a different way than what it was made for does not mean that makes it okay! Ask any physician what certain body parts, including internal organs, are for, and he can tell you. He can tell you how that the male and female bodies are designed to unite, even with intricate detail. Still, be that as it may, what is to be considered here is what the Bible has to say.

Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Well would you look at that? It is in both the Old and New Testaments of the Bible. Please forgive my sarcastic tone, but it's time to get real and to get honest. Shall – leave. Shall- cleave to his wife. Shall - be one flesh. - Shall, Shall, and Shall!

Matthew 19:4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, If that seems hard to understand then let me help. The one who made humans in the beginning, made two sexes- male and female.

Matthew 19:5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

For this cause, - that is – because God made them two sexes – male and female –(designed for perfect physical union) - a man is to leave his parents and be glued to his wife - AND – they are to be one flesh. In other words the reason for heterosexuality is that the Creator made these two sexes to be united and thereafter not be considered two but one composite being who is made of two parts, that come together in a unity that makes them one.

Genesis 2:18 And the Lord God (elohiym) said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

WAS NOT GOOD? Only one thing! The man to be alone. However, in the Hebrew, this word does not mean simply to be singular.
Alone' – (Hebrew -Strong's Exhaustive Concordance) = 'bad', meaning, separation, by impl. a part of the body, branch of a tree ….
This indicates something more than to be only one thing by itself, or singular. It indicates an incomplete state. It indicates separation.
Help meet for him – (Strong's) = ezer; aide; - help. - and neged; a front, i.e. part opposite; spec. a counterpart, or mate ….
Counterpart (Webster's 1913) = 1. A part corresponding to another part; anything which answers, or corresponds, to another; a copy; a duplicate; a facsimile. 4. A thing may be applied to another thing so as to fit perfectly, as a seal to its impression; hence, a thing which is adapted to another thing, or which suplements it; that which serves to complete or complement anything; hence, a person or thing having qualities lacking in another; an opposite.
So, God created the woman to be the man's counterpart. She fits perfectly, in a physical sense. She completes him by having the qualities he lacks, while being the same, as in also human, and yet opposite. She is the receiver of what he has to give (seed). Male and female were created in a way that would complement and contrast each other.

The female brain appears to have increased connection between neurons in the right and left hemispheres of the brain, and males seem to have increased neural communication within hemispheres from frontal to rear portions of the organ Isn't that interesting? If this is the case, then, when male and female are united as one, the neural connections of the whole brain – left to right and front to back – come together and there is completion.

Matthew 19:6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

Put asunder (Greek, Strong's) = [cwrizw] chorizo kho-rid'-zo from [cwra] - chora; to place room between, i.e. part; reflexively, to go away:--depart, put asunder, separate.
If it was the creator God who designed this unit, if He made these two parts to connect and become one flesh, or one singular united being, do not let human beings separate, or put any room between the members of this composite being. Not only do these verses give God's distinct instructions, but there is even a 'wherefore.' There was a reason that this was to be done.
God made His instructions clear and had a reason for making it so. This is easy to see. Two males cannot be counterparts. And since, in the physiological makeup of each, there is only the 'giver' (of seed and the sexual organ) and no 'receiver,' either physical union must not happen, leaving only stimulation by some other means, or the partners must improvise and manipulate another part of the body to a use it was not designed for.
They must go against the natural use of the body. Any physician can tell us that the anus is not designed for sexual intercourse. Both the colon and the rectum are part of the intestines. The anus is where waste it to be passed from the body. The anus is full of bacteria, whereas the vagina is self-cleansing. Let's be honest.
No one would try to feed their body by stuffing food into their ear or nose or anus. Who would not think that anyone who would do such a thing has no sense at all? We cannot force our eyes to smell or our nose to see. No one expects that they can cause their lungs to pump blood or their heart to digest food. And yet individuals will choose to take that which was meant for passing off body waste as the place to receive life-giving seed, knowing it will only be cast off and die. Not only so but they will condemn anyone who will not accept this as acceptable, right, and even godly.
How can a reasonable person consider that which goes against God's design to be godly? Can we be reasonable here? Yet the sort of ridiculous reasoning put forth as evidence that God is not against men marrying men or women marrying women, or homosexuality in general, is to say that just because God created male and female with the ability to have sexual intercourse, does not mean that it's wrong to do it another way other than according to God’s design and purpose.
How about this? Let's have honesty now! Do it if you choose to, but leave God out of the picture; out of the discussion. He made his design, His purpose, and His instructions clear. So why insult Him?
Or at least, to make a case for God accepting homosexuality, please at least use more reasonable evidence, though I understand there are many gullible people who will not catch on to this very obvious misuse of scripture.
As to the next question, Did God really destroy Sodom and Gomorrah because of homosexuality and sodomy in particular, let's be honest. Let's get real. What was the reason God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah?
For years there may have been few who would have even questioned the assumption that it was because of homosexuality. However today, where there has been a push for acceptance and validation of the gay lifestyle, this has been questioned and, in many cases, denied. It is understandable why someone might say that the destruction did not come because of what the men of Sodom attempted to do to the angels, since God had made the decision to destroy the cities before the angels came to see Lot and to warn him of God's intentions.

Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous;

Genesis 18:28 Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

Genesis 18:32 And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once:

Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten's sake.
The verses in Genesis 18 above, let us know that God's decision to destroy Sodom and Gomorrah was based on the outcry that God had heard, the unrighteousness, and the grievous sins that the people were committing, although he does not list those sins in these verses. In this portion of scripture, we are not told that homosexuality is the primary sin of these cities. However, there is more to be found on the subject in other scripture verses. Genesis chapter thirteen tells us this -

Genesis 13:13 But the men of Sodom were wicked and sinners before the Lord exceedingly.

Here we are told what the men of Sodom were like. The word 'man' here refers to the male gender. It would seem that the behavior of the males of Sodom toward the angels was evidence of a pre-existing state of mind, which God already was aware of before the angels arrived.
These were exceedingly wicked men. Men = (Strong's Exhaustive Concordance) iysh; a man as an individual or male person ...him (that is) husband ….
So then God specifies the condition of the 'males' of Sodom as being 'sinners exceedingly'. Before looking at the list of Sodom's sins that are named in scriptures let us take a closer look at what happened specifically, on the day Sodom was destroyed and the night before.

Genesis 19:1 And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
2 And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
3 And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
Here we see that the angels came to Sodom while Lot was sitting in the gate of the city in the evening. Lot invited the angels to come to his home but at first, they refused, saying they would stay the night in the street. After Lot “pressed on them greatly,” they finally consented and went with him into his home. 4 But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
5 And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? Bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Before the angels had laid down to rest for the night, both the young and the old men (males) of the city, in fact, all of the people of the city compassed Lot's house Young (Strong's) = ... from out of in many senses – with – naar ; a boy (as active), from the age of infancy to adolescence … also (by interch. of sex), a girl (of similar latitude of age):....
At this point in the story, we are given some very interesting information about the people of Sodom. One train of thought today is, that what was happening when the people told Lot to bring out the angles to them, was something commonly done as a means of showing strangers just who was in charge of the city. I guess the idea is that Sodom had set up a system whereby they instilled fear into any strangers who might think of entering the city, whereby they would not think of entering in an aggressive manner but would rather be subdued from the beginning.
As much as some may want us to believe this to be the case, I am afraid such an idea overlooks some very important information given thus far in the scriptures. You see, it would be one thing to have a vigilante group or a law enforcement group, who were assigned the job of carrying out this cruel introduction to Sodom and putting the fear of the city into all new comers, but what we read goes far beyond even the cruelty of such an idea.
What we have here is all the males of the city from children to old men coming out in mass to carry out their twisted behavior on the angels. Remember that the Bible has told us that these were exceedingly wicked men. What was it they were intent on doing to these angels who they saw as men? It was to “know” them.
It is a far stretch to suggest that all they wanted to do was to be casually introduced to these men, when Lot responded in the way he did.

6 And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
7 And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
8 Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Clearly the men of Sodom were seeking to do something that was wicked as Lot plainly stated. “And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly” Let's be reasonable. Okay? A simple introduction would not have been seriously evil.
While Lots begs them not to do this evil thing, he, in turn, offers them an alternative. He offers them to take his daughters who had not yet “known” man and to - “do ye to them as is good in your eyes.” Not just introduce yourselves to them, but rather – do what you want to do to them.
There are probably few who would fail to acknowledge that Lot was referring to his daughters as being virgins who had not had sexual relations with a man. It is apparent that the men of Sodom were calling out to Lot to let them have sex with these two men (angels). This is why, Lot called their intentions wicked. Lot, knowing who his guests were, would prefer letting these men do what they chose to do with his virgin daughters than to let them have the angels of God.
There are those who may be willing to acknowledge that this is what the men of Sodom were intent on doing, yet try to pass it off as only a way of bullying newcomers and showing them who was in control. I read the explanation of one person who claimed that the majority of the men in Sodom and Gomorrah were heterosexual (although where such an idea came from, I do not know). But think about it with a rational mind. If this was the case, then we have before us something quite astounding.
We have a multitude of primarily heterosexual males of all ages, willing to commit an act of homosexual rape on complete strangers. I THINK NOT! Ask any man who is heterosexual if he would commit a homosexual act in order to humiliate someone and see what his response would be! To his thinking, he would not only humiliate the person he attacked but would also defile himself, doing something he finds repulsive.
For any man, let alone a heterosexual male, to be willing to 'put the hurt on' someone who is endangering his family, his town, or his country, may seem completely feasible. Men go off to war all the time in order to protect their country and loved ones. They will fight an enemy. They will fistfight, or even kill if they feel the necessity. They will threaten bodily harm to anyone who would think of hurting their loved ones. But it takes a different sort of a person, a degenerate sort of person to rape another human being, let alone to consider rape as a warning to someone who has not threatened them or their loved ones in any way.
To use rape as a form of bullying all strangers is not reasonable even to very rough men. But, and if, this did seem to be something that a city of greedy people thought would ensure the safety of their city, it would be more reasonable to have certain men who were willing to commit such heinous atrocities on other human beings be assigned to the task.
To get to the point of being capable of raping another human requires a killing of the conscience and a hardening of the heart to an extreme. But what happened in Sodom on that fateful day, was that even the young men or boys were not only willing to rape strangers but to rape other males. Not only this, but they were so intent on doing so that they were going to break Lot's door down in order to get to these men and get the job done.

9 And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.
10 But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.
11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Do you hear what is being said here? What do you think your immediate reaction would be to instantaneously becoming blind? Think about it honestly. If suddenly, right now, you were to lose your vision, how would you react? I think most people would panic. Oh, if you were indoors, you might try to calm yourself for a second as you attempted to find out if the lights had gone out in the house. But these men were outdoors. If you suddenly lost your sight outdoors, you might rub your eyes to see if something had fallen over them or gotten into them, but when the reality hit you that you were indeed blind, I think most of us would panic!
However, when the angels struck all the men in Sodom with blindness at once, what did they do? All of them, both small and great, kept right on trying to find the door to Lot's house to get to the two strangers. And they continued their determined search until they had wearied themselves in their efforts! Incredible!
This suggests being so consumed and driven by such a fever of lust, that the fact of suddenly becoming blind is a secondary concern to satisfying their sexual appetite! My friend there is nothing normal about such a condition! And even the young ones were consumed with this passion! Jude spoke of the condition of the people of Sodom that confirms this.

Jude 1:7-8 Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.
8 Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.

Giving themselves over to fornication means – 
Fornication = (Strong's) = ekporneuo, ek-porn-yoo'-o from [ek] – ek and [porneuw] - porneuo to be utterly unchaste:--give self over to fornication.
To be chaste, is to be - 1. Pure from unlawful sexual intercourse; virtuous; continent. (Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary (1913 + 1828) They were completely impure.
They practiced unlawful sexual intercourse. And what is fornication in the Bible? Fornication (Strong's) – zanah (Hebrew) and porneia (Greek) - Zanah; to commit adultery (usually of the female and less often of simple fornication, rarely of involuntary ravishment); figuratively to commit idolatry ( the Jewish people being regarded as the spouse of Jehovah): …. porneia; harlotry (including adultery and incest); fig. idolatry:- fornication.
A ‘harlot’ in the Old Testament is the same word as is translated 'fornication' above. It is the Hebrew word zanah. Jude tells us that the people of Sodom had given themselves over to fornication. They went after strange flesh. In other words, it was not simply that they lived with a lover out of wedlock or were unfaithful to their spouse. No! One partner would not suffice. They went after “strange” or different or even altered flesh. strange (Strong's) = heteros (an-,the) other or different: - altered... strange.
Let's tell it like it is. The people of Sodom were utterly unchaste, they gave themselves over to fornication and they went after strange flesh, or that is - other flesh – different or altered flesh.
Notice also, in the meaning of the word fornication, are the words incest and idolatry. So then according to the Bible, the majority of the people of Sodom were not simply everyday heterosexuals, nor were the homosexuals simply people who led regular lives only with a partner of the same sex. These were people who wanted that which was strange, altered, or different. Not only was this what they wanted but they went after what they lusted for. My friend, this sounds very much like a serious addiction. As a matter of fact, I think of only three reasons why so many men of all ages would be so determined to get to these two strangers that even blindness would not distract them. That would be fear, pain, or addiction. And these easily go together.
If an individual is addicted to drugs and is unable to get the drugs that he is addicted to, he may suffer great pain, hallucinations, and fear. His suffering can become so tremendous that all he can think of is getting what he needs to stop his pain. No, it is indeed unlikely that young men at the age of early adulthood, who normally might be thinking of what they were going to do with their future; what career they might enter, who they might marry, where they would like to live etc. would suddenly be so completely consumed with getting to two complete strange men and raping them, that nothing would deter them, including being stricken with blindness.
Nor is it likely that a normal young man would rush off, at the drop of a hat, to rape anyone, let alone someone of his own gender, who had done nothing to incite anger and rage; unless this was already an addiction; unless his hunger for strange flesh was fueled by an unholy appetite and addiction. In other words. it is unlikely that such homosexual acts were new and unfamiliar to the mass of men in the city of Sodom.
It is far more likely that such acts were common to them and something they greatly desired. I believe most honest individuals would have to admit this to be the case. Even the historian Flavius Josephus in his writing of the Antiquities of the Jews, which according to - http://www.britannica.com – was written in Greek in about AD 93, spoke of the actions of the people of Sodom as being of a sexual nature, not a desire for a simple introduction!

Flavius Josephus of the Antiquities of the Jews Chapter Eleven — Book I And the Angels came to the city of the Sodomites, and Lot intreated them to accept of a lodging with him: for he was a very generous and hospitable man; and one that had learned to imitate the goodness of Abraham. Now when the Sodomites saw the young men to be of beautiful countenances, and this to an extraordinary degree, and that they took up their lodgings with Lot, they resolved themselves to enjoy these beautiful boys by force and violence: and when Lot exhorted them to sobriety, and not to offer any thing immodest to the strangers, but to have regard to their lodging in his house; and promised, that if their inclinations could not be governed, he would expose his daughters to their lust, instead of these strangers: neither thus were they made ashamed.
4. But God was much displeased at their impudent behaviour: so that he both smote those men with blindness, and condemned the Sodomites to universal destruction. But Lot, upon God’s informing him of the future destruction of the Sodomites, went away; taking with him his wife, and daughters; who were two, and still virgins: for those that were betrothed (31) to them were above the thoughts of going; and deemed that Lot’s words were trifling.

Whether you give Josephus' writings any credit or not, it is clear what the mindset of this man who lived approx. 93 AD was. This is not just some new idea of our day and time. Also, remember that the scripture speaks of the cries that were coming from Sodom that God had heard.
Genesis 18:20 And the LORD said, Because the cry of Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous; cry - zeaqah= (Strong's) a shriek or outcry: - cry (ing)
Definition of shriek in English: - http://www.oxforddictionaries.com verb [no object] - 1. Utter a high-pitched piercing sound or words, especially as an expression of terror, pain, or excitement: noun - A high-pitched piercing cry or sound; a scream: great = (Strong's) – rabab; to cast together, i.e. increase, espec. in number; also (as denom. from rebabah, to multiply by the myriad: - be many (-ifold), be more, multiply, ten thousands.

Genesis 18:21 I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

Cry = (Strong's) tsaaqah; a shriek: -cry (ing). There were cries or shrieks that were numerous and perhaps increasing, coming from Sodom and Gomorrah. The sort of sounds that often express terror, pain, or excitement. It was obviously not a sound of something good if it displeased God as it did. Could these have been the cries of other victims of the men of that sinful city, as they cried out in terror and pain? Could it have been the cries of multitudes of sinful men indulging in orgies and many unchaste acts?
Perhaps both, for the cries stirred God into action. And the scriptures give us a glimpse of the men of that city on only one night when they again went after strange flesh, the flesh of two angels of God. They were so overcome with desire that even being struck with blindness did not stop their fervent efforts to get to them. They pressed on until they wearied themselves in their blind efforts.

11 And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

Still, some would have us believe that homosexuality had nothing to do with God's reason for destroying Sodom and Gomorrah, even though it appears to have been a great part of their activities, in fact, a probable addiction of the men of those cities; such an addiction in fact, that the males of all ages were so consumed with the lust for strange flesh including the same sex, that they mobbed Lot's house. Even after losing their eyesight, they would not let up with their desperate efforts to assault the angels of God. Yet, some would have us believe that the story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a weak argument against homosexuality and that it does not indicate God's disapproval of it.
Well alright then. If that is not convincing, then let's go on and look at other scriptures about these cities. Sodom and Gomorrah were Canaanite cities -

Genesis 10:19 And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.

In Leviticus chapter 18. the Lord spoke to Moses, telling him that he was not to do the things done by the Canaanites. I bring this scripture to show the list of what the Canaanites were doing, that God said was 'defiling' them. I do not bring these verses for a discussion of the Law and whether or not it is in effect today, but to make clear that homosexuality was among the things defiling these people.
These things are said to have already been 'defiling' the Canaanite people when God began to give Moses the Law. In other words, they did not just become wrong, because to do them would be breaking the Law. Before the Law was given, they were already defiling the Canaanite people, of which Sodom and Gomorrah were a part.

Leviticus 18:24 Defile not ye yourselves in any of these things: for in all these the nations are defiled which I cast out before you:

Since the word 'defile here means - tame' taw-may' - a primitive root; to be foul, especially in a ceremial or moral sense (contaminated):--defile (self), pollute (self), be (make, make self, pronounce) unclean, x utterly. we are able to see God's view even before He put the Law of Moses in place. God began setting forth, as law, the forbidding of those things that were already making the people foul, contaminated, polluted, and unclean.
Among the sins of these people were homosexuality (v. 22) and even bestiality (v. 23)

Leviticus 18:22 Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination.

Shall not lie – (Hebrew, Strong's) shakab shaw-kab' a primitive root; to lie down (for rest, sexual connection, decease or any other purpose):--x at all, cast down, ((lover-))lay (self) (down), (make to) lie (down, down to sleep, still with), lodge, ravish, take rest, sleep, stay.

Leviticus 18:23 Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down thereto: it is confusion.

Note the word 'defile' here again. An honest person can see the meaning of these verses. God had designed male and female for physical union. To have physical union or sexual activity with one of the same sex, or with an animal, was to make them unclean and polluted. It was to disrespect and disregard God, His creation, and the purpose for which He had created man. But these people rebelled against the plan and purpose of God, and men are doing the same yet today.

Deuteronomy 9:24 Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you. Thus, we can see that if the nation of Canaan was defiled with all of these things, so was Sodom and Gomorrah. Yes, homosexuality was practiced in these cities. Any honest person will recognize the meaning of these verses and not try to twist their meaning. These activities, among others, brought on the wrath of God!
Deuteronomy 29:23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath: In Ezekiel, we find another list of sins of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Some point out that homosexuality is not named in this list. But is this the case?

Ezekiel 16:49-51 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fulness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.
51 Neither hath Samaria committed half of thy sins; but thou hast multiplied thine abominations more than they, and hast justified thy sisters in all thine abominations which thou hast done.

Abomination here is the Hebrew word - tow`ebahto-ay-baw' or tonebah {to-ay-baw'}; feminine active participle of 'ta`ab'; properly, something disgusting (morally), i.e. (as noun) an abhorrence; especially idolatry or (concretely) an idol:-- abominable (custom, thing), abomination.
The list - 1 Fulness of bread
2 Abundance of idleness
3 She did not strengthen the hand of the poor and needy. (Self-centered)
4 Haughty
5 Committed abominations
6 Justified thy sisters in all thine abominations

The picture here is of a selfish, proud, and lazy people who indulge themselves with food and whatever abominations, or that is, disgusting and abominable things they choose and to justify the actions of others who do them, while having no concern for the needs of others. No details are given as to which particular abominations they were committing, but as stated earlier, they were Canaanite people and God listed their abominations in Leviticus! These included homosexuality (man lying with mankind as with womankind).
The abominations may not be specified here, but as we have seen, they were in Leviticus and were evidenced in Genesis chapter 18, in the story of the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. As can be seen from the meaning of the word 'abomination,' these things were disgusting, morally. They were abominable (unequivocally detestable [The Free Dictionary]) and an abhorence ( one that is disgusting, loathsome, or repellent. [ The Free Dictionary]) IDOLATRY OF SODOM AND GOMORRAH

Deuteronomy 32:32 38 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?
35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste
36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.

Perhaps, they had even invented a religion in which such treatment of newcomers were considered rituals of sacrifice to their gods. When men turn from the true and living God, lifting themselves above Him in their own minds and hearts, they commonly turn to gods of their own making. If they do not make Gods with their hands, they worship themselves as God. What are the results of such a mindset according to the Word of God?

Zephaniah 2:9-11 Therefore as I live, saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Surely Moab shall be as Sodom, and the children of Ammon as Gomorrah, even the breeding of nettles, and saltpits, and a perpetual desolation: the residue of my people shall spoil them, and the remnant of my people shall possess them.
10 This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified themselves against the people of the LORD of hosts.
11 The LORD will be terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and men shall worship him, every one from his place, even all the isles of the heathen.

Isaiah 3:8-9 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.

Jeremiah 23:14 I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem an horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evildoers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them unto me as Sodom, and the inhabitants thereof as Gomorrah.

So be honest! It is time for truth!
Does the Bible bear out that homosexuality was among the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah? Yes, it clearly does. Those who would like us to believe otherwise can pick out verses about Sodom and Gomorrah and point out that homosexuality is not named in them. They can perhaps be quite convincing if they leave out what is said before and after these verses; if they omit other portions of scripture, like those addressing the Canaanite cities, which Sodom and Gomorrah were a part of and whose sins are actually listed. If they fail to look honestly at what was going on in Sodom the day the angels of God arrived and are unwilling to face the facts that the activities of the men of that city, on that day, had to be the result of an already developed way of life.
But is that why God destroyed Sodom? We have read clearly that He destroyed them because of their abomination, of which homosexuality was a part. And He was moved by the cries that He heard coming from those cities.
Of course, some of you may have heard the scoffers, who like to point out other things in the Old Testament that are called abominations, as though these were ridiculous and no longer binding. They refer to things in the Law of Moses, speaking of things they apparently do not understand. They mock things that had important purpose at the time of the Levitical priesthood, pertaining to the ceremonies that were performed before Jesus came and brought a more perfect means of true salvation for all mankind. We have seen, however, that what was said to have defiled the Canaanite people to which the people of Sodom belonged, and was considered, by God, to be abominations, was defiling them before the Law was given. They were acts of rebellion against God.
The scoffers scoff either in ignorance or purposeful deception and either ignore, hide, or do not know or understand what Jesus Himself said -

Mark 10:6-8 But from the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.
7 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; 
8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

God said how it was to be, in the beginning, and Jesus affirms that it remains the will of God. God hears every word of insult made against Him. He sees every arrogant heart that is puffed up and willing to defy Him. Those who think they are elevated enough, intellectually, to take upon themselves the right and justification to turn away from God's design and purpose, to their own, may smile and speak condescending to those who refuse to do so.
They may insult and slander those who refuse to pervert the Word of God or speak irreverently of His design and His will. But one day they will receive in themselves that which is a fair return for their actions, as is said in -

Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
Recompence (requital - .1 something given in return, compensation, or retaliation) meet necessary (as binding ...needful They will reap their just reward.

Psalms 10:4 The wicked, through the pride of his countenance, will not seek after God: God is not in all his thoughts.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

While many homosexuals have suffered severely from abuse, pain, and loss, before turning to this lifestyle; while many are hurting and see no way to identify themselves in any other way, yet we cannot, in all honesty, manipulate the scriptures to justify what goes against the heart and purpose of God. There is hope for any, and all, who are consumed in a life of sin, no matter what that sin may be. For Jesus has said - 
Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Mark 1:15 And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

John 6:37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.

1 Peter 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

1 Peter 2:7-8 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Romans 3:4 God forbid: yea, let God be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art judged.

Black – White – Americans and the Body of Christ
Since the COVID 19 pandemic and the death of George Floyd, there have been so many emotional posts and outspoken, strong opinions. Sadly, I’m afraid, far too many are responses from the rationale of man and not the heart or mind of God. When those who call themselves God’s church hear from the world what is going on in a world that is ruled by the god of this world and then respond by the emotion and reason of man, the results are not good. I understand that God gave us an intellect for a reason, nonetheless, those who have given themselves to God are to put on the mind of God and be led by His Spirit. His Spirit is far and beyond that of human beings.
            I am tired of hearing all the black/white conversation that is going on. Did I really say that? Yes, I did. The family of God is full of diversity of skin color, but should all be of one blood, the blood of Jesus Christ. His Word should fill our minds and His Spirit flow through our veins. Each member of the body of Christ is part of the other, no matter their skin color. You are either in the body of Christ or you are not. But if you say you are, then remember that when you tear down other members of Christ’s body, it is Christ himself, who you are speaking against.
I think it is amazing what Black Americans accomplished in the first 50 years after the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863, in spite of the many people who would not respect them as the equal citizens they were, in spite of those who still wanted to keep them in slavery and in spite of continued scorn and mistreatment by far too many. According to Bob Woodson, a civil rights activist, founder and president of the Woodson Center, and originator of the 1776 Project, fifty years after the Emancipation Proclamation, Black Americans had 700 million dollars in assets, owned 900,000 farms, 40,000 churches, 40,000 businesses in cities like Chicago, 100 million in real estate assets, and out of wedlock birth was at 15%.
Note: According to - https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/77-black-births-to-single-moms-49-for-hispanic-immigrants The National Center for Health Statistics said that in 2015, 77.3 percent of non-immigrant black births were illegitimate.
And I believe the progress and accomplishments in those first fifty years speak of how amazing people these Americans were. But I also think it shows how amazing is the God who so many of them believed in, depended on, and drew strength from.
What is amazing is that rather than just dwell on the people who had done them wrong, they grasped hold of what liberties the government said were there’s. They set their faces like flint and pushed forward. They didn’t do it by constant insult-throwing and focusing on those who had and still would sin against them. They allowed themselves to be wise to the enemy’s devices, and with wise and intelligent thinking, planning, and action, they progressed. In a land with many enemies, some recognized those who, though of different skin color and background, were allies and would act on their behalf. And they called on the name of the Lord.
            If they recognized their true enemy to be Satan, and the works done against them to be motivated by him, they could then recognize that they could do all things through Christ who strengthened them. He could soften and harden hearts as He willed to bring about the end He chose for them. He had been mighty in battle for His people in the days of the Old Testament and He could still work mightily for them. AND HE DID!
            Not everyone progressed at the same speed. Some had more trouble shaking off the residue of the pain and injustices they had suffered. Some clung to bitterness. But that bitterness held them back. For some, fear of repercussions held them back. They knew what it was to have slave owners torture them. And some had great difficulty getting rid of mental and emotional chains. All of this was understandable, and many could say it was justifiable. Sympathy and empathy are only reasonable. But those who went forward and overcame until their lives were astoundingly great, considering all they had to press through, were those who focused on the way to overcome rather than on the right to hate.
            Those like Martin Luther King Junior, who stated with faith “We shall overcome,” and envisioned, not punishing his enemies and making them pay for their sins, but rather a day of brotherhood with them, accomplished much. Their accomplishments were astounding and impressive. They showed the world what intelligent and amazing people they were. But I think the most amazing were those who were giving God the glory and attempting to have the mind of Christ.
Slavery was not a new thing when it came to America. It was as horrible on the Barbary Coast when Africans took white slaves, when Native Americans took slaves one tribe from another, and when slavery was going on in the days of the Old Testament. It has always been a terrible thing. And it is terrible now when it is happening in the hearts and minds of people all over America who are giving in to the thoughts of the enemy of their souls right now.
            Today the enemy’s voice is ringing out as he directs Black Americans to recall all that he has done to them in the past rather than focus on the God who brought them out and the love that He shed abroad in the hearts of their ancestors. He enjoys seeing White Americans come to their own defense and break ways with their Black brothers and sisters. He is spreading the hate that will only cripple both black and white people and turn them on each other. And he laughs as he brings their minds and hearts into bondage of fear, hate, and bitterness. He gets us to look over our shoulders with narrow eyes at those of a different color, suspicious of what they might be thinking or doing. He magnifies enemies until even those who are not enemies become so in the mind and are feared. Thus, dissension reigns and the progress already made becomes far less important than what remains to be overcome. Satan is crippling those who have come so far in order to keep them from progressing. And I am tired of it.
            There is not a marriage that would succeed if each partner constantly reminded each other of every mistake of the past. There would be no peace in the workplace if all blacks and all whites thought only of possible injustices or so-called privileges. People who overcome do not deny injustices when they are there, but neither do they borrow trouble. Overcomers, do not deny injustice but they show themselves greater than those injustices and allow God to give them wisdom, strength, and direction to overcome them, to such an extent, that those doing the wrongs are seen for what they are and what they are doing.
            There is an old saying ‘he cut off his nose to spite his face.’ This is exactly what Satan is trying to get people of all colors to do. We can so concentrate on enemies that we overlook allies that are right there at our right hand. But more than this, we overlook the reality of the God we are supposed to serve, the God who has said – Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
            Man’s reason says ‘I must do this or that to get justice. It is only right that I make known the evil of others. It is my right to demand others treat me right!’ But, my reason, however reasonable, my wisdom however wise, is but foolishness compared to the wisdom of God. And my thoughts are not worth considering in comparison to the thoughts of God.
            It is time for all those who claim to be the body of Christ to begin putting on the mind of Christ. It is time for the body of Christ to see itself as just that and to recognize its brothers and sisters, whoever they are all over the world, as just that – brothers and sisters. It’s time to get our minds less on what the government is doing and more on what God is doing, what He can and will do for those who seek His face and are willing to begin to see others as He sees them.
            If we get it right in the body of Christ, God can take care of the world for us. He can fix the government. He can get the right people into office. But whether or not the government is as it should be, the children of God can be blessed by Him and live in peace in the midst of a dark world.
It is time for the body of Christ to see each other as a part of ‘us,’ as surely as our hand and foot are part of our physical body, so is our brother or sister part of our body no matter what color they might be. No, they might not comprehend where we came from, what we’ve been through, or our (fleshly) culture. But when we come to Christ the wall of partition between us comes down. We may be a variety of flavors, spices, and styles, but we are no longer divided. We are one in Christ Jesus.
You do not have to have experienced what I did, when I knelt on the floor, bent over the bed and had my father whip my bare skin with a leather belt that was cut into four long strips. You do not have to know what that did to my psyche or self-worth, in order for you to know I am your sister, part of your body, and need your love and acceptance right now. If God is in you, He can guide you as to how to minister to my needs as surely as He can guide me concerning how to minister to you and love you where you are.
We may not all know all about the other’s history, culture, or experiences, but we can begin to teach and share. We can learn of each other. But more importantly, we can learn what it means to be a new creature in Christ and part of each other. My foot may not fully understand my hand, but they certainly need each other.
We, the church have enough to do building up our precious each others, allowing God to tear down every wall that divided us, edifying God’s people, to let our minds be caught up with the thinking of the world.

1 Corinthians 6: But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.
7 Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?
8 Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.
9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind
10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.
11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

            The world and experts, so-called, tell us what is reasonable for us to do in times of crisis. But I suggest that the child of God is not to walk in common sense alone, for there is a ‘sense,’ a mind, a reason, that is far superior to the mind of man. Consider that when you are overly worked up and emotional, the possibility that your own emotions and reason could be getting in the way of hearing from the one who knows all, sees all, and whose reason is far above your own.
            I believe it is time to stop pushing slogans that the world says are important and lashing out at those who do not comply, judging their hearts. The point of this article is not to deny any injustices. Shadrach Meshach and Abednego were absolutely thrown into the fire. There was no denying it. Daniel was absolutely thrown into the den of lions. There is no denying it. Joseph was absolutely sold into slavery. There’s no denying it. But what did God do? Were these men not elevated? Did Joseph not do good to those who were in charge over him? Did he not continue to interpret dreams? Did his character and quality not show even during his time of slavery? And did pharaoh not set him above all others, making him second only to himself? Did God not lead the children of Israel out of bondage and wipe out their enemies? Is God the same yesterday, today, and forever?
            Go ahead and focus on injustice, think on the sins and mistreatment of the past. Yell, scream, hate, and seek justice by making demands of men, if you want to. Or put on the mind of God. Let Him do your thinking for you. Let Him give you wise thoughts and direct wise actions. See God as the one who will fight for you and who will show you when to fight, and when to be still and see the glory of God. It’s up to you.
            But if you claim to be God’s child, then be just that, a child in his Father’s care. If you are willing to give up vengeance, retribution, bitterness, and revenge, in exchange for the love of God that passes all human understanding; if you are willing to let God be God in your life, you can yet overcome more and more.
            The accomplishments of Black America are admirable and impressive. May they again, stand tall and confident in the Lord and let Him do the lifting up; let Him be glorified. Let the world see who you are rather than wasting your strength and emotions attempting to demand something Satan is unwilling to give, but God can produce as He wills.
May the church be the church. May God’s body indeed be His body and glorify Him! May we lift Him up above ourselves and let Him lift us up as He wills and as only He can do.
                Fight the good fight that is of faith knowing the weapons of our warfare are not carnal (natural) but are mighty weapons, mighty enough to pull down strongholds. Our armor is spiritual. Our sword, the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, can divide even bone from the marrow in them. The name of our Lord, Jesus, is His authority. His authority is above all the powers in heaven and earth. Let the battle be the Lord’s!
            Let us take our eyes off of Satan’s accomplishments while we look to the author and finisher of our faith. Let us see, through eyes of faith, or God and HIS victory!

                                                Why Do We Need To Be Saved?


            1Peter1: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

                                                                        Part One

            This is a question that many in Christianity have answers for, answers that they feel are true and very important. But do you really understand the whole story? Sometimes we get a measure of truth, which affects our life, not knowing that there is more to the story.
            I would like to share some truth that will hopefully enlighten and help others to realize more of the blessings that God has for them. Go with me, if you will, on a journey into the Word of God.

            To begin the study of 'Salvation,' let us first consider what this word 'saved' actually means. Then we can go into the scriptures to see why it is that we are in need of being 'saved'.

            In the English language, according to http://www.websters1913.com/words/Save - 'save' means 1. To make safe; to procure the safety of; to preserve from injury, destruction, or evil of any      kind; to rescue from impending danger; as, to save a house from the flames.
            2 (Theol.) Specifically, to deliver from sin and its penalty; to rescue from a state of condemnation and spiritual death, and bring into a state of spiritual life.
            3 To keep from being spent or lost; to secure from waste or expenditure; to lay up; to reserve
            4 To rescue from something undesirable or hurtful; to prevent from doing something; to spare.
            5 To hinder from doing, suffering, or happening; to obviate the necessity of; to prevent; to             spare.

            To be 'rescued,' then, would be to be saved from something to something.
            Example – to be saved from the water in which you are drowning - to – land or to a ship

            To be 'made safe' would be to be taken out of danger.
            To be preserved would be to be kept from harm.

            If every man needs to be saved, what is it he needs rescued from, and what is the place of safety he needs rescued 'to'?

            While for some, the answers may seem simple enough, it is valuable for us to take a closer look at what happened in the Garden of Eden and get a clear understanding of the process that took place there. Why would God be willing to send His Son to die for what His creation had done?
            So, let us go back to the day of mankind's creation and see if we can come to a better understanding of the things that happened there, that still affect our lives today.
            God prepared the earth in all of its fantastic beauty, before creating the first man and woman. Every tree, from the softer evergreen to the towering, giant sequoia and massive cypress, - every blade of grass and the multitude of fragrant flowers that dotted the earth, every bubbling brook, stream, river and ocean, and all of the amazing animals of every size, shape, and characteristic – were created before God made His most wondrous creation of all.
            The atmosphere was perfect for sustaining life and growing herbs and fruits for food. Every planet was in place. And who can tell what the colors of the sky might have been in all of God's perfection?
            After setting the earth in order, God made a most telling statement. A statement that tells us many things that are too often overlooked. He said -

         Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them         have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over         all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

            When God created man, He was creating an image or reflection of Himself. Because of this, he was God's most wondrous creation. We know there is no imperfection, no sin or darkness in God. Therefore, we can also know that there was no such thing in the makeup of mankind.

            The first man and woman who God created, Adam and Eve, were created perfect – blameless.

            Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

            Genesis 1:31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And       the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

            Interestingly, the word in these verses that is translated in the English as 'God' is actually the word elohiym (Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance) in the Hebrew. It is the plural form of the word 'elowahh,' which means 'God.'
            But God did not choose to use the word Elowahh, because He is a plural unit. That is, He is three who are a part of each other, connected to each other in a way that is hard for humans to comprehend. Because it is hard to comprehend, many refuse to believe it to be so. But nonetheless, God – Elohiym spoke and said  “let us (a personal, plural pronoun) make man in our (another personal, plural pronoun) image, and let them (a plural pronoun)....
            God made two individuals, out of one body - Eve out of Adam's body. Eve was Adam's flesh and bone, even though she was an individual. She was part of Adam. Since she was made of his flesh and flesh has blood in it, Adam's blood probably flowed through her veins.
            God was making a reflection of Himself and showing mankind how that two can be a part of each other, a plural unit. He said in John - John 10:30 I and my Father are one. So even though Jesus was sent to earth by His Father, yet they were only one God. -

            John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that         sent me ....
            John 17:22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even     as we are one

            That two could be, and in fact are, 'one' is seen in the creation of man and woman – husband and wife. After receiving his wife, Adam made this statement -

            Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his       wife: and they shall be one flesh.

            This truth was also spoken in the New Testament -

            Matthew 19:5-6 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?
            6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath  joined together, let not man put asunder.
            Mark 10:8 And they twain shall be one flesh: so then they are no more twain, but one flesh.

            Adam knew that God was not going to put every man to sleep and remove a rib and some flesh from his body in order to create his wife, as He had done with Adam. This had been done to show the representation of the Father and Son being one, and also to show how much God considered them to be one. But after this, it would be up to each individual man, to leave his father and mother and join himself to his wife, seeing her now as literally a part of his body as Christ saw her to be.
            These two who were now one, would have unhindered fellowship with and influence of the Holy Spirit, as long as they remained in obedience to God, sin free.

            In Genesis chapter five, we are told that, in the beginning, God even called the man and woman by one name.

            Genesis 5:1 This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God (Elohiym) created  man, in the likeness of God made he him; 2 Male and female created he them; and blessed        them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.

            Some translations wrongfully leave out the word 'name' in their Bibles. But it is an important word that was in the original manuscripts. It is the word – shem – (shame), and is an appellation, as a mark or memorial of individuality.
            An appellation, according to - https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/ -appellation an identifying name or title
            God made each individual to be a reflection of Himself, but He also made the marriage to reflect the oneness of the Father and Son. And He called them both by one name – Adam. It was the man who later gave his wife a separate name.

            Genesis 3:20 And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.

            The meaning of the name 'Eve,' according to the Hebrew is – lifegiver.

            Now, here is a beautiful bit of information that science has discovered.

            If females have increased connections between neurons in the right and left hemispheres of the brain and men have increased neural communication within hemispheres from frontal to rear portions of the organ, then could we not reason that by bringing the male and female together as one, there would be a greater wholeness?
            These things can be studied more in another study, but suffice it to say, that the man and woman were truly made in the image of God, the two to be a part of each other and to need each other. And when God made them, He did it well and with intricate detail. When He finished, His creation was indeed - very good!
            Everything God made was 'very' good. The word 'very' in the Hebrew is the word – m`od, meh-ode' and means - properly, vehemence, that is - (with or without preposition) vehemently; by implication, wholly, ... especially, exceeding (-ly) ....

            According to the www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary, 'vehement' means - : marked by forceful energy : powerful
            a : intensely emotional : impassioned, …. b (1) : deeply felt …. (2) : forcibly expressed ….

            So, we see that God was altogether pleased and satisfied with His creation. We get the idea that He saw it as powerfully good and may have had very strong, even passionate feelings about what He had created.
            For those who think that people sin because they have a sinful nature, please notice that God could not have created Adam and Eve in His own likeness, with natures that were in any way ungodly or sinful, and still called them - very good.
            God did, however, give mankind a free will. Eve did not need a sinful nature in order to be able to make the choice to do something against God's instructions.
            Even Satan was perfect when he was created (Ezekiel 28:15), and yet he was able to rebel against God.
            If we take the definition of 'nature' as given by the  www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary which defines 'nature' as -1 a : the inherent character or basic constitution of a person or thing :... b : disposition, temperament, we can see that, being in God's own image, Adam and Eves 'nature' was also good. Their inherent character, their basic constitution, even the instincts which God wired into the man would have been good.
            Adam and Eve were created without sin. They were blameless, or that is, innocent of wrongdoing, when they were created.
            But, as we know, something happened that left them in an altered state. It is widely believed, throughout the church world, that when the first man and woman sinned, their nature was changed. It is further believed that every man born after this was born in that same altered condition. Let us see if the scriptures bear this out.
            First, however, there are a few more things to consider concerning mankind, before their act of disobedience.

            Genesis 2:15 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it  and to keep it.
           
            God put Adam into the garden of Eden to do two specific things, dress the garden and keep the garden. The actual Hebrew word that has been translated as 'dress' is the word abad – (aw-bad,) which means -  work (in any sense); by implication, to serve, till, ... husbandman, keep, labour(-ing man, bring to pass, (cause to, make to) serve(-ing, self),....
            Adam was to be the husbandman, or caretaker and gardener of the Garden of Eden.
            He was also put there to 'keep' the garden. The Hebrew word that has been translated as 'keep' is the word shamar - (shaw-mar,) meaning - properly, to hedge about (as with thorns), i.e. guard; generally, to protect, attend to, etc.:--beward, be circumspect, take heed (to self), keep(-er, self), mark, look narrowly, observe, preserve, regard, reserve, save (self), sure, (that lay) wait (for), watch(-man).
            So, Adam was given a responsibility and authority to be the husbandman and the protector of the place that was to be his and his wife's home.
           
            Genesis 1:28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and             replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

            Man was given dominion over every other living thing, everything except mankind.

            Although he was given authority over the living creatures of the earth, man was still under the authority of God and always will be.

            Psalms 24:1 The earth is the LORD'S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell             therein.
            1 Corinthians 10:26 For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof.

            All the authority that man had was delegated authority, given by God, who could take it away if He chose. Their authority was authority 'under' God, not over or above God. This is seen in that He told them what they were to do and what they were not to do on the earth.
            He specifically told them that they could eat of every tree in the Garden except for one. The one tree which they were never to eat of was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
            Make no mistake, no matter what you have heard. It was not the tree of good and evil, but rather the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. This is an important difference. Eating of that tree would give them a knowledge that God did not want them to experience.

            Genesis 2:16-17 And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden      thou mayest freely eat:
            17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die

            Had Adam and Eve obeyed God's commandment to them, they would not have had a need to be saved. Authority came with the dominion they were given, so they had no need to fear anything. And they had God, His power, and authority to back them.
            Their sin of disobedience gave them a knowledge, through experience, that was not good. At that point they needed saved from their sin and its consequences.
            Now, so far, some fundamental truths have been presented about how things were before Eve sinned. These are very important things to consider because these truths impact our lives today, whether or not we have realized it. Some of the things I have presented may have already been familiar to you, while some things may have been quite surprising and different from what you have thought, heard or been taught. But let us see what the value of these things may be when it comes to our salvation. Let us go on to see what really took place on the day of the very first sin of mankind, why we need to be saved and how the sin of the first man and woman still impacts us today.
            While many think that we need to be saved in order to one day go to Heaven, there is far more to consider. We need to better understand how sin affects us on a daily basis, in life, here and now. By not knowing this, people suffer many things.
            As we go on, be patient as we uncover truths one step at a time. Now back to the Garden of Eden.

                                                                        Part Two

            It is doubtful that God would have told Adam to protect the garden without telling him anything about what the possible danger was. However, no matter what He might have told them, they had never witnessed evil in action nor seen the consequences of it. It was a completely unfamiliar thing to them.
            To really 'know' something is more than to hear that it exists. It is to experience it. You might meet an individual, be introduced to them, and speak to them, but not really 'know' them.
            You can know that there is such a thing as love. You can hear about it, believe it exists and even see people who seem to be in love. But you will not really 'know' love until you experience it.
            God wanted his man to 'know' good but not to 'know' evil. Before the serpent tempted Eve, they had experienced much good. Everything God had made and given them was very good.
            It is important, as we go on, to understand that Satan is also known as the devil, Lucifer and the serpent. All these titles or names are given to the same person and he is the enemy of God.

            Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and             Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were         cast out with him.

            The serpent, who is Satan, did not like this man and woman being in the image of God and having authority on the earth. Surely, he would not like the thought of them bearing children who would grow up, marry and fill the earth with more images of God. So, he set about to bring about their downfall by getting them to disobey God. Keep in mind, as we go forward, Eve's lack of experience with evil.

            Genesis 3:1-4 Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD          God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
            2 And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
            3 But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat     of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
            4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
            5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

            The serpent was 'subtil,' which is the Hebrew word aruwm – (aw-room') and means - cunning (usually in a bad sense):--crafty, prudent, subtil.
            Though on the day she was created, Eve was an adult, still she was a new creation - with no experience. When God created her, He must have filled her mind with all the knowledge she needed to be able to walk, talk and think as an adult. But all of life was a new experience for Eve. Though she was inexperienced with evil, before her encounter with the serpent, she was soon confronted with the master of it. She was confronted by the father of lies.
            In speaking to people who sought to kill him, Jesus said these words which gives us information about the devil -

            John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil ... He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode      not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his    own: for he is a liar, and the father of it

            With his sneaky, cunning ways, the father of lies, Satan (the serpent) was able to deceive Eve. She did not have an evil nature. But she was naive when it came to the cunning devices of Satan.

            1 Timothy 2:14 ... but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

            Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant  to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
            7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed     fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons

            “When the woman 'saw' …” This word - 'saw' - is very important. One of its meanings is 'perceive'. The scripture is speaking of how Eve perceived something. It was the understanding she had or her view of what she was looking at. The fact that she saw it to be a certain way, or that is, that she perceived it to be a particular way, does not mean she was seeing or perceiving correctly. Satan influenced her to see it as he wanted her to. He is a master of illusion and trickery which he used to influence Eve to see the tree and its fruit the way he wanted her to see it.
            It was when Eve 'saw' that the tree was good for food, was pleasant to the eyes, and that it was something to be desired to make her wise, that she disobeyed God and ate the fruit. She did not eat the fruit before she was deceived into perceiving it in a way that would tempt her.
            How could she 'see' that it was good for food?
            The serpent may have said more to her than what is recorded; we do not know. It could even be that he was eating a piece of the fruit as he talked to her; we do not know. We are told in the New Testament, that Jesus did many more things than what is recorded. - John 21:25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen.
            So, the serpent may have used many deceiving words and expressions by which to deceive and entice Eve. If he was eating of the fruit, juice dripping from his mouth as he spoke his lying words, and a delicious aroma was filling the air, we can imagine how enticing it could be. The Bible does not say this happened. But somehow Eve got the picture that it was both pleasant to the eye and good for food. Perhaps she had avoided the tree up until that time, knowing it was forbidden, and, as Satan drew her attention to it, she began to find it more appealing, seeing beauty and perhaps noticing a fragrance.
            What we do know is how she began to 'see' it.
            She also began to see it as something that would make her wise. No one was as wise or wonderful as her creator. But the serpent seemed to have an understanding of things she did not know about, and he was telling her that the tree would do her good and not evil.
            Yes, it was wrong of Eve to disobey God. And yes, Adam should have warned her not to listen to the serpent. He should have told the serpent to leave the garden. He had the position of authority to do so. But we know that Eve's first experience with the father of lies, ended up in her considering his words, being totally deceived, and disobey her maker.
            Now let us consider what effect this disobedience had on her and the effect it has had on every human being since that time.
            It's important to understand the connection between sin and death. We know that Eve was told that in the day she ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, or in other words, the day she disobeyed God, she would die. People think of this as a punishment, but let us take a closer look at the process.
            First consider what death is.

            1 The action or fact of dying or being killed; the end of the life of a person or organism.
            1.4 The destruction or permanent end of something. - ‘the death of her hopes’
            1.5 A damaging or destructive state of affairs.

            We see according to the dictionary, that one kind of death is the destruction or permanent end of something. We hear this term used many times throughout our lives. People will say things like, “My hope has died, my faith has died, the love has died, etc.
            In the case of Adam and Eve, the death was far more all-encompassing than people sometimes realize. They died in every way. Let me explain.
           
            1 John 1:5-7 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that      God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

            God is LIGHT. There is no darkness in Him at all.

            6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

            If we are walking in darkness, we do not have fellowship with God. To say that we do, is to lie.

            7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the             blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
            John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that   followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life

            What is said in these scriptures was true in the beginning. Before Adam and Eve sinned, they could fellowship freely with God.
            The word 'fellowship in verse 6, actually means – (Hebrew) – koinonia, (koy-nohn-ee'-ah) -
partnership, i.e. (literally) participation, or (social) intercourse, or (pecuniary) benefaction:-(to) communicate(-ation), communion, (contri-) distribution
            When first created, they could walk in God's light. But when they sinned, darkness entered their lives and that fellowship 'died.' God, who is light, does not fellowship with darkness. Their sin resulted in the death of fellowship, or the death of a relationship. To be able to walk in fellowship with God once again, would require them to be cleansed from their sin. This is something they could not do for themselves in their sinful condition.

            Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

            Sin became a wall of separation between them and God.

            Too often, what is not understood, is that when Eve sinned, she sinned in her body. That may sound so strange at first, that some might think I am speaking heresy. But the Bible itself tells us of this fact.

            Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did          work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

            Where does it say that the motions of sin worked? It says they worked in his 'members.'
            In the Greek this word members is the word – melo, (mel'-os) - of uncertain affinity; a limb or part of the body:--member.

Romans 7:23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members (3196).

            Now, here, it says that the law of sin is where? “… in my members”

            This is the same word as in verse 5. So then, the law of sin, he says, was in his body.

            Romans 6:12,13 +19 Let not sin therefore reign (rule) in your mortal body, that ye should obey     it in the lusts thereof.
            13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield    yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments           of righteousness unto God
            Romans 6:19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye       have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

            See how often our body (members) is referred to? Don't yield, or give your body over to uncleanness and iniquity, as instruments of unrighteousness, but yield yourselves to God. Notice also, that writer says not to let sin rule in your 'mortal' bodies. So, he is clearly not speaking of their spirit which is eternal, but truly is speaking of sin in their physical bodies. This is important, for as we will see; in order to bring us salvation, Jesus took our sins in His 'body' on the cross.

            1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

            Here is an important truth. When Eve was tempted by the serpent, she had the ability to resist him and even to tell him to leave. She could have seen that the fruit of the tree was appealing and yet not acted on the temptation. It was when she reached out with her arm (a body part), took the fruit in her hand (a body part), and put it into her mouth, (a body part) and began to eat (with body parts) that she actually sinned. While it was a thought in her mind, she could have brought her thoughts into submission to the instructions of God and her conscience and refused to sin. But she did not. She acted out sin, 'in her body.'          
            And why does the writer say that he is telling them not to let sin rule in their bodies? It is because of the 'infirmity' of their flesh.
            This is both interesting and very important. This word 'infirmity; in the Greek is - astheneia, (as-then'-i-ah) - ; feebleness (of mind or body); by implication, malady; morally, frailty:--disease, infirmity, sickness, weakness
            And the word 'flesh' here, in the Greek is -  sarx, (sarx) n -  flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being (as such):--carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly).
            Notice it is the flesh as stripped of the skin. We are literally speaking of 'flesh.' If you pull the skin off of a chicken breast, what you will see is the flesh. The meaning given above also says - “the body as opposed to the soul or spirit. Although the word could, at times, have the meaning of human nature, it does not say 'sinful' nature, but rather human nature with its frailties etc.
            Sin brought physical death to our bodies and thus weakened them. It also separated us from our life source, the Holy Spirit. In this weakened condition it is hard for us to resist the power of sin. No part of our being was ever supposed to be without the Holy Spirit. Without Him all that we are, including our natures, are left in a more frail condition.
            It was because of the sin in their bodies that God had to separate from them physically. As we saw in the meaning of the word 'fellowship,' one of the meanings for this word is 'partnership.' God is holy and he cannot partner with anyone who is unclean. Their sin brought -
           
                                                DEATH OF A RELATIONSHIP

            Genesis 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and      they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.

            Now this all happened on the day they were created. So, Adam and Eve being husband and wife had no reason to be ashamed of being naked in each other's presence, especially since they were 'one' even in God's eyes. At this time, there was no one else on the earth to see them, either. Before they sinned, we are told -

            Genesis 2:25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

            As soon as they sinned, however, their eyes were opened. What do you suppose their eyes were opened to? Apparently, for the first time, they saw their bodies as sinful. Their bodies were good in the beginning, pure, and sin free. Now they were bodies with sin in them. They felt the guilt and shame and what did they do? They sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves. The act of this sin was recorded in their brains and would remain in their memories.
            Not only were they physically naked, but when God would see them, they would be naked in His sight, in the sense that He would be able to see the sin in them. On that day there was the -

                                                DEATH OF INNOCENCE

            Now consider another aspect of the death they died. Where is our spirit? It is inside our bodies and cannot leave until death.
            Therefore, if God separated from them physically, their spirit, which was in their body, was also separated from Him. Our spirit is not free to leave our body and go and do whatever it desires. Their spirit could not say - “Well, since God had to separate from my body, I will just leave my body and go spend some time with Him.”
            No! Our spirit is confined within our body until we die. People in some religions or cults, believe that their spirit can leave their body. But when they think they are experiencing such a phenomenon; it is actually a demonic illusion.

            2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

            Once our spirit leaves our body, it either goes to the place prepared for the unbelievers or is taken into the presence of the Lord.
            Being separated physically from God, Adam and Eve were also separated spiritually. They suffered -

                                                SPIRITUAL DEATH

            Another fact to consider is that our minds are also confined within our bodies. With sin in the body, the mind is also separated from God.
            As blood is pumped from the heart to every part of our body, every limb and every organ, giving it physical life, so the Holy Spirit was to give life to every part of our body, soul and spirit. To have the mind separated from God is a dangerous and deadly thing.
            The spirit of fear loves to torment our minds. Satan loves to accuse us by speaking lies to our minds. And he loves to adulterate the Word of God, telling us it means something other than what God intended. Evil actions proceed from an evil heart in which evil thoughts have been planted, conceived and taken root.
            This is why, in the world today, there are people who truly want to do good and help others, but the way they sometimes go about it only brings on more trouble. They have a conscience, they care, but they do not have the spiritual knowledge, wisdom, and understanding to actually know what is best. People call good evil and call evil good.

            WE NEED TO HAVE OUR MINDS SAVED AND GIVEN NEW LIFE!

            Once we are saved from the sin that separates us from God, we can once again have the Holy Spirit to teach us what we need to know. Our minds need fellowship with God.

            John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have   said unto you.

            John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for      he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will   shew you things to come.

            A mind without the Holy Spirit has no spiritual food to give it health and life.

            Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

            A carnal mind is a natural mind, by itself, separated from God. The thoughts that will be thought in such a mind, are often filled with uncertainty and confusion. They contain judgments without spiritual truth and are plagued with a multitude of influences other than God. The thoughts of a carnal mind can kill our spirit and our hope.

            The Bible has plenty to say about our minds. It instructs us to have our minds renewed.

            Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of        your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

            It tells us to cast down all the things that exalt themselves against the knowledge of God.

            2 Corinthians 10:5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against   the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ

            Satan wants to give us all sorts of knowledge. But it is knowledge that he wants us to respect more than God or the real knowledge of God. So, God tells us to cast these things down and bring every though into captivity, or that is, take control of your thoughts and bring every one of them into obedience to Christ.
            We cannot do this as long as our thoughts are separated from God and we do not have the Holy Spirit to give us the power we need. But once we are saved from that sin that is the wall of separation between us and God, we can take authority over our own minds. Then we can yield our thoughts to the guidance of the Spirit of God.

            OUR MIND NEEDS TO BE SAVED! - IT CAN BE RENEWED!

            When we are saved, we can do what Ephesians 4:23 tells us to do.

            Ephesians 4:23 And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;

            1 Peter 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind ….   

            In the 'loins' is the creative power. Let God inspire your thoughts and give you revelation. Let holy creativity begin in a godly mind.

            The sin in the Garden of Eden brought all these kinds of death and yet there is one more death to be considered in this study.

            Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus             Christ our Lord

            The wage they earned for their sinning was death. It was the consequence of that sin. In other words, there was no death until that time. Not only death in the sense we have just addressed, in the sense of separation, but before sin entered the world Adam and Eve were immortal. However, the sin that entered their bodies caused the death of their bodies as well.
            They had not been created for sin. The weight of it was never to be carried. It went against what they were to be, - a reflection of God. It was a poison to their minds, their spirit, their emotions and their physical bodies.
            Many have taught that the death Eve died when she ate of the forbidden fruit, was only spiritual death, but the scriptures show us that it was this and far more.
            It is understandable why a person might have trouble understanding how it could be said that they died physically, when they did not completely cease to live that day. In fact, Adam lived to be nine hundred and thirty years old before he died.

            Genesis 5:5 And all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years: and he died.

            So how could he have died physically on the day he ate of the forbidden fruit? On the day they ate of the forbidden fruit, Adam and Eve went from being immortal to becoming mortal.
            Look at what the Webster's Dictionary tells us about death.

        Local death is going on at all times and in all parts of the living body, in which individual cells and  elements are being cast off and replaced by new; a  process essential to life. General death is of two  kinds; death of the body as a whole (somatic or  systemic death), and death of the tissues. By the former is implied the absolute cessation of the functions of the brain, the circulatory and the respiratory organs; by the latter the entire disappearance of the vital actions of the ultimate structural constituents of the body. When death takes place, the body as a whole dies first, the death of the tissues sometimes not occurring until after a considerable interval.
        2. Total privation or loss; extinction; cessation; as, the death of memory.

            Death took place in Adam and Eve the day they ate of the tree. Local death began taking place in all parts of their body when sin entered it. Individual cells began being cast off and replaced. This would continue through the aging process until they breathed their last breath, which for Adam was when he was nine hundred and thirty years of age. But in every year that he still breathed, the dying process was taking place. It began the day he disobeyed God.
           
            Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so             death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned

            Where does it say that sin entered? Does it say that sin entered into man and changed his physical makeup and nature? No, it does not. It says that sin ENTERED THE WORLD!
            What does it say passed upon all men? Sin? No! DEATH PASSED UPON ALL MEN!
            Adam and Eve became mortal as did their seed. Every child being born of mortal seed would also be mortal, in a dying body, separated from God. He was born into a world where sin was. Being separated from their power source, which was God, they too would sin. It would be one vicious circle unless something was done to save them!

            WE NEED TO BE SAVED IN ORDER TO ONCE AGAIN HAVE OUR LIFE SOURCE!

            Without our life source, God the Father, the Son who is the Word of God, and the Holy Spirit - we will sin! There will always be things that appear appealing and draw our attention. There will always be the god of this world, Satan himself, to try and deceive us and lure us to sin. Without the Holy Spirit to teach us, guide us, and empower us, we will sin. Our sin will remain a separation between us and God. Without being saved, it is one endless cycle with no hope.
            Think of why a person needs saved from a disease in his body. If the disease did not affect his quality of life in any way, he might see no need to worry about it or try to eradicate it. The reason you want healed of a disease is because of the havoc it plays on your body until it eventually kills you completely. A disease may cause you pain and render you so weak you have trouble getting around and thinking clearly. So, what you really want is to be cured of the consequences of the disease or the effects of the disease. This is how it is with sin.

            WE NEED SAVED FROM SIN BECAUSE IT TAKES OUR LIFE AND SEPARATES US FROM GOD!

            Sin affects our thinking, our reasoning, our emotions, our health; it causes us pain and suffering and separates us from the one who could keep us healthy and whole.

            Many believe we need saved from a sinful nature that has been inherited from Adam and Eve. If I had a portion of scripture that actually said this, I would have to agree. There are some versions of the Bible where the word  for 'sarx' that is translated accurately in the King James Bible as 'flesh,' and translate it as sinful nature and the like. I believe this is based more on assumption than Biblical teaching.
            Please look again at the definition of ‘flesh.’ –

sarx, (sarx) n -  flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being (as such):--carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly).

            We see in the definitions for the word 'sarx,' is - (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being (as such). It does not say either sinful or evil nature only ‘human’nature and ‘a human being.’ However, if you assume human nature is sinful or evil, this translation may seem to be applicable. However, it is a mistake to overlook what is actually said in the definition, just after these words. It says - carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly).
            As has already been mentioned, something that is carnal, is something by itself, without the Spirit of God. The nature of a human who is separated from God is frail. It does not have the strength of the Holy Spirit. In that weakened condition, a human who is separated from God will do things that defile him, and it will affect his thinking and his conscience. But this does not mean that he is born defiled. He is born separated from God, and because of this, he is born vulnerable to the influences of Satan who is the God of this world.
            There are scriptures in the Old Testament that speaks of people corrupting themselves. It does not say that they were born corrupted but rather that they corrupted themselves. This happens because they are separated from God and living in death.
            The writer of Jude speaks of people who speak evil about things that they really do not know about. Remember that before we are saved, our minds are separated from God.

            Jude 1:10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.

            These people corrupt themselves with the things that they know physically as opposed to spiritually. They speak of things that are based on irrational, unreasonable, fleshly instincts, as merely living creatures, who are animal like, in that they are spiritually dead.

            Naturally (Hebrew) - phusikos, )foo-see-koce') -  "physically", i.e. (by implication) instinctively:--naturally.
            Brute – (Hebrew) - alogos, (al'-og-os) - ; irrational:--brute, unreasonable.
            Beasts – (Hebrew) - zoond, (zo'-on) -  a live thing, i.e. an animal:--beast.

            Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace

            When all you are left with is yourself, body, mind, and spirit, with your life source missing you are left dead while you live. If you give in to every impulse of the flesh with no filter of the Holy Spirit, you will corrupt yourself until you are left functioning in things that corrupt you. It is not that you are born spiritually corrupted, but you are born without the knowledge or strength you need to know how to be able to keep from sinning.
            Though you are a creation of God, created in His image, you have need of the life-giving bread of life. God has wired into you certain instincts and needs. But without Him you do not understand these things nor do you know how to meet those needs. You may crave a certain food, not knowing what it is nutritionally that your body is needing. You may crave the physical relationship with the opposite sex, not knowing that God has wired this into you for the purpose of marriage and becoming a reflection of God on the earth.
            Desires and needs are there, but you are ignorant of their purpose and value. In your ignorance you will try to satisfy the need with things that will only do you harm.
            If you were to take an infant, who was just old enough to crawl, and set him outdoors on a grassy lawn, at just about lunch time, what might happen? At first, he might look around excitedly. He might examine the warm grass he feels against his chubby legs. If he should see a butterfly, he might try to chase it. If he is getting very hungry, he might reach down and pick up whatever he finds and put it in his mouth. If he should put a stone in his mouth, it is not because he is wanting to hurt himself or do something wrong. He only knows he is hungry, but without his mother's guidance, he does not know what is good for him and what is not. Should he see a berry bush, he might crawl to it, reach up and grab a berry and put it into his mouth. He has no concept of poison, so does not wonder if the berry might be good for him or do him harm. The berry is appealing, and he is hungry. He could harm himself in a deadly way, because of his ignorance, if he did not have his mother to watch over him, protect him, guide and teach him.
            So, it is with a person who enters this life separated from his guide, protector, and teacher - God.  Without any particular desire to hurt himself, God, or anyone else, he may in fact do so. Why? Because he does not have the knowledge and wisdom to be able to always discern what is right, best, bad or harmful. He does have a conscience that God has wired into him, that can warn him to some degree. Still, being separated from the one who created him and knows what it is he truly needs, the one who can teach him to receive the good and refuse the bad, he is going to make wrong choices and hurt himself.
            Every time a man sins, that sin is recorded in his memory. It contaminates him and he corrupts himself. Sin can become such a habit that his conscience becomes seared and hardened. The thing that he did not know would wound his own spirit becomes so habitual it seems natural to him.
            In this sense, his nature may change. But this is because of the effects of the sin he has committed not because of sins committed by Adam and Eve. Their sin made him mortal and separated from God. But their sin did not put sin inside of him. He did that to himself. He has corrupted himself. It is not because he was born corrupted. He has lived separated from the one who loves him and could keep him from the damage of sin, and he needs to be saved.
            Even if he should read some of God's instructions given in the Bible, he needs the Holy Spirit to make it come alive to him and to know the truth. Without Him, he too is going to be deceived in the same way that Eve was. As a baby, left to himself, without the care of his mother will die, so a man without God will do the thing that will kill him – he will sin. A child is born without the Spirit of God dwelling in him. Separated from God before salvation, he lacks the knowledge of the truth that can free him from the power of sin and the wicked one. He does not have the strength of the Holy Spirit or the authority of the name of Jesus the Savior. Left to himself, he is carnal (not connected to the Spirit of God) and he will sin. His sin, in turn, separates him from his God. And so, goes the vicious circle.

            2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ

            How does it say their minds could be corrupted? Does it say they are born corrupted? No! Born separated, yes. Born weakened by the lack of their life source, yes. Born vulnerable to sin, yes. Born too weak to resist the cunning deceitfulness of the enemy, yes. And because of this their minds, if not surrendered and dependent on God, indeed can be corrupted through the subtilty of Satan (the serpent) in the same way that Eve was. Eve was able to be beguiled, though she was sinless in the beginning. We too can be beguiled if we are not born again and saved from sin. Paul did not want this to happen.

            Subtilty - (Greek) – panourgia, (pan-oorg-ee'-ah) - from [panougoV] - panougos 3835; adroitness, i.e. (in a bad sense) trickery or sophistry:--(cunning) craftiness, subtilty.

            Sophistry (https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/sophistry) - 1The use of clever but false arguments, especially with the intention of deceiving.
            1.1count noun A fallacious argument.

            Satan is good at producing many a clever, though false argument by which to deceive those who are separated from God.

            Speaking of what is going to happen to Satan, the Bible says

Romans 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
            3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should             deceive the nations no more ….

            Satan also uses other men to deceive.

            Matthew 24:4-5 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
            5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

            WE NEED SAVED SO WE WILL NOT BE DECEIVED – BUT WILL INSTEAD KNOW   THE TRUTH THAT SETS US FREE

            John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

            Because of Adam and Eve's sin, death has passed on all of us. Every person born, is born of mortal seed. They are formed of the seed of their mortal father and the seed of their mortal mother. They are carried in a mortal womb and thus, enter the world separated from God. We enter a world where death is ruling mankind. It has it's grips on mankind, like evil tentacles, ever choking out the life we were meant to have. This death is physical, mental, and spiritual separation from God. It is physical death, that we deal with on a daily basis, causing the aging (dying) process.

            Romans 5:14 Nevertheless death reigned (rule) from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam's transgression, who is the figure of him that was to    come

            We are born in this mortal state without having sinned ourselves. But because we are separated from God, we will sin. Yet, because of what Jesus did to save us and redeem us back to a relationship with God, we are born to opportunity. The opportunity is there for each of us to believe on the Savior, when we reach an age of maturity and to once again receive everlasting life.
            The opportunity is there for us, to be united to God and receive the Holy Spirit to indwell us and give us the power, through Him, to refuse the sin that brings death.
            We are born separated from God, but we can be born over again as a child of God, restored to a relationship with Him. We can be born again.
            When we become His child, we receive the right to use His name, which is His authority, to take control over the works of darkness. We can rule, through Christ, rather than be ruled by sin and Satan.

            WE NEED TO BE SAVED TO TAKE BACK THE LIFE AND AUTHORITY GOD   MEANT FOR US TO HAVE IN THE BEGINNING.

            When we are saved from sin and death, through believing in the work of Jesus Christ, repentance and submitting ourselves to Him, we can then resist the devil and he will flee from us.

            James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

            Then we will not have to allow sin to reign (rule) our lives.

            In further study we can learn about what Jesus did to save us from all sin and death. We can learn about how to take in the spiritual bread of life. May the study presented here, make more clear the reason we need to be saved.
            Without the salvation through Jesus Christ, we will live every day of our lives, walking in death and separation from God. But there is hope!

            THERE IS SALVATION! The Wall of Separation Can Come Down!
